One shot is the program that we could visit interesting& famous places in Seoul! This time, Saturday, March 24thwas the first One Shot program took place at Seodaemun Prison so thatmembers of the program were really looking forward to participating.
On Saturday, March 24th, our One Shot members (around 18 members in total) gathered at the main entrance of Yonsei University at around 3pm. Except only one of the members could not join in that time, so he was going to gather at the ticket office of Seodaemun Prison, 3:30 pm.
We went by bus 7737 and fortunately there was no transfer so the movement was pretty comfortable. It took about fifteen minutes by bus, including the time for walk, totally 20 minutes tookto the destination.
It became 3:30 pm, eventually all members gathered in the entrance of Seodaemun Prison. Once we were ready, we took a group photo (as an extremely representative of One Shot!) and started the tour.
Seodaemun Prison was comprised of a lot of places, including Prison History Museum and the real structures of those days. The weather of that day was so beautiful. The sunshine let us feel sentimental emotionon tour. We thought the good weather made a great harmony with the view of the large field, however, we also felt the fact of the historical tragic happening in the Prison in stark contrast to the weather in the field.
There was an enormous ‘Taegeukgi’flag attached on a specific building of the Prison. Many people were taking pictures in that place, also we took the second shot in there.
It seemed like that the big ‘Taeguekgi’ was a great symbol of sacrifice and effort of Korean independence. That gave us indefinable sensations of the historical thinking. We hung out for a bit of time near the flag as taking some more pictures.
At 4:00 pm, we started to go into the inner of the Seodaemun Prison consist of the History Museum.
There were three part of sections inner of the Prison. First section was the discovery of various historic relics in those times of Japanese Colonial era. We concentrated on looking for many things in there like agricultural implement, and household items.
The second section was really a memorable place. There were many replay spaces of that colonial era’s background like Filming Site.
There were real torturing places inside of the Prison. There were some places of replica, and in the other site there weresections known as the real place where many fighters for Korean independence had been tortured.
