On October 6, 2020, we had a first “Tasty Shinchon” program. 3
Exchange students and 5 Yonsei general students gathered in front of Yonsei
University and went to “DaepoJJimdak” to introduce Korean food and have dinner
together. “DaepoJJimdak” is a famous restaurant for Yonsei University students
because it is not far from the school and the food is very delicious. Jjimdak
is a kind of chicken, especially steamed chicken. And it is one of traditional
Korean food, and some of exchange students had never experienced Jjimdak
before, so it was a great opportunity to try it.
At first, they were worried about the spicy food because they had a
difficulty in eating spicy and hot food in Korea. So, we just ordered not spicy
Jjimdak and even added some cheese on it, and they really enjoyed it. And we
ordered fried squid, which is popular in Korea. One of exchange students were
very satisfied to try it! Through this we had time to introduce Korean food. We
had dinner for about 1 and a half hour. During the dinner, we talked about
school lives and some cultural difference between Korean and Western Culture. It
was great program for both exchange students and Yonsei student because
exchange students were able to know the Korean food and nice restaurant in
Shinchon, and Yonsei student learned cultures from other countries.
On November 20th, with early
Christmas carols ringing on the streets in Korea, 3 YG members and 3 exchange
students visited Namsan Tower located in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Since it was a time
when the coronavirus had increased again, we never took off our masks except
when we took pictures.
In fact, the official name of Namsan Tower
is Namsan Seoul Tower, which Koreans usually call Namsan Tower....
