On October 27th
2021, 3 YG members and 3 exchange students met at the front gate of Yonsei
University at noon. To break the ice, we introduced ourselves and did some
small talks. We enjoyed our conversation. We took bus about 10 minutes to go to
National Palace Museum in Gyeongbokgung. We walked around the Gyeongbokgung
Palace. The scenery was extremely beautiful as the palace was covered with
reddish and yellowish leaves. Even if we wore mask on the face, we can feel the
fresh air.
We got into the
museum. As the Covid19 situation is getting severe, we carefully checked QR
code. We borrow audio translation guide for detailed explanations about Korean
history. Foreign friends attentively listened to the audio and learned a lot of
information about Joseon Dynasty. Three foreigner students, who have only
interested in culture of Korea’s present era of Korea, are surprised with the
charming medieval and modern history of Korea.
Especially, the
museum set up the display about ‘Peony blossom’, which is used widely used as
iconography emphasizing the authority and dignity of the Joseon royal court,
just for October. The display has so much to see and take pictures. Every
student was captivated by a riot color of the flower. Through the beautiful
sculpture, we can easily understand the meaning and purpose of the peony
blossom.
After looking
around the exhibition, we finally go to ‘서촌닭갈비’ to eat
late lunch. It was a little bit spicy, but the taste was so good. We also went
to café designed with Hanok(traditional Korea-style house). We had meaningful
time with foreign students with good memories!
