The visit to the
National Museum of Korea was conducted on two different days; November 6th,
2021 and November 11th 2021 respectively. The first team consisted
of two YG students and one exchange student, and the other of two YG students
and two exchange students. Both teams gathered in front of the school gate to
take a bus together to the museum.
The
first group focused mostly on the permanent exhibition, especially on Korean
artifacts from the three countries to Chosun Dynasty. Afterwards, we also had a
chance to view the external exhibition along with the beautiful pond outside
the museum.
Headed
out from the museum, the team had dinner at “Ichondong Myeonok(이촌동면옥)”.
We had dumpling soup and cold noodles. After spending about an hour at the
restaurant, we headed back to school. Being able to see the artifacts
personally and share thoughts about them allowed to have better understanding
of Korean culture and history.
The
second group gathered on the following week. Along with touring first to third
floor, we watched a video titled “A royal progress; being with the people”(왕의
행차, 백성과
함께하다).
We had dinner at
“Yammi Tang”(야미당), which is inside the
national museum. After dinner, they went to a café. It was overall a great
experience. The small conversations regarding history and museum itself easily
led to more about one another’s culture. It was also pepero day, so we prepared
pepero for the exchange students at the café. The weather was nice, the museum
was beautiful and meaningful. Everyone had a great time.
